We support individuals living with mental health challenges to achieve outcomes they value.
"We're big believers in everyone having the opportunity to live a full life - and we give our all to support people to achieve wellbeing and mental health outcomes that matter to them.
For some people, this means having a stronger sense of self. For others, it may mean nurturing relationships or building the confidence to tackle tomorrow. Everyone has different life goals, and at Neami, we walk alongside people to help improve their quality of life on their terms.
We're proud to support 38,000 people living with mental health challenges across Australia and offer more than 70 services, over 45 different Indigenous lands. These services include mental health and wellbeing, housing and homelessness, and suicide prevention."
The Strathpine Safe Space is an extension of Neami services and is part of a network of Safe Spaces across the Brisbane North Region that aims to support individuals experiencing significant distress. Safe Spaces provide an inclusive and trauma-informed environment, with support provided by peer workers and clinicians. Neami staff will work within a 'Collaborative Relational Practice Model' using an evidence-based, best-practice approach to support guests visiting the service. The Safe Space operates daily, outside usual office hours, and provides a welcoming and compassionate space for people needing immediate emotional support.
The Safe Space provides short-term targeted care and support for adults experiencing a crisis or in significant distress. It provides a safe space for immediate care, in-house assessment, and information and support to access community, primary and tertiary services.
Services include assessment of needs, person-led conversations, activities to address a range of social, physical, and emotional needs, and provision of information and support to access community or health services. Referrals are not required to access the Safe Space and people can self-refer or be referred by general practitioners, public mental health services, community organisations, or significant others (with the person's consent).
The Strathpine Safe Space operates on a seven-day rotating roster with an afternoon /evening shift (approx. 3 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.) Monday- Friday, and weekend/public holiday shifts (approx. 2-8 pm).
The terms and conditions of the role are listed in the position description which can be found on the Neami Job Vacancy portal (please select paper clip icon).
