Opportunity for a dynamic leader in Health with sound leadership and coaching skills to help establish our new Women's Health & Wellbeing Service in Townsville.

About the Role

  • Part Time
  • Maximum Term Contract until 31 December 2021

The Women’s Health and Wellbeing Support Service provides trauma informed counselling and case management support to meet the ongoing needs of women and young women who require assistance to achieve better health and wellbeing. The service undertakes intake and needs assessment (including ongoing safety and risk assessment) and case planning for meeting the individual’s support needs. The service is prioritised to women who are recovering from experiences of domestic and family violence and other forms of gender-based violence.

Women are assisted to achieve social and economic independence by supporting them to access a range of support services to meet their long terms needs and to support their ongoing journey from crisis to recovery.

Core duties

  • Initiate, lead and coordinate strategic partnerships within the community, Area Mental Health Service, local government, community housing, and health and welfare providers to improve health and wellbeing outcomes for individuals. In collaboration with partners, staff and individuals identify service gaps and develop appropriate models of service delivery to address these gaps
  • Provide direct practical support and counsel to individuals so that they gain/maintain independent living skills.
  • Work collaboratively with partners to improve and develop the overall service response to people living with a mental illness
  • Play a key role in service development, including ongoing evaluation and review of service outcomes
  • Lead, coach and mentor your team

What will you bring to the role?

As the Service Manager, your experience managing a growing team in a rapidly changing environment will be pivotal to your overall success. You will be someone who is able to approach tasks in a calm and logical manner. You will be able to make hard decisions when required but your management style will be more about building your team members capacity, coaching and supporting them to develop their skills and become leaders of the future.

Other skills we are looking for:

  • Relevant qualification in Mental Health
  • Knowledge of mental health programs in the Townsville Region
  • Ability to form relationships with external organisations
  • Ability and willingness to work effectively as part of a team, to meet program goals and objectives.
  • Knowledge of complex mental health and drug and alcohol issues in the Townsville Region
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Be able to work with individuals from diverse and unique backgrounds
  • Be an honest and transparent individual

Mandatory requirements:

  • Current Working with Children Check – required before commencement of work - Blue Card with Yellow Card Exemption or Blue & Yellow Cards (employee responsibility)
  • Australian Working Rights
  • Drivers licence
  • Police check (refer to PD) – disclosable outcomes considered
  • Relevant Industry registrations
