- Classification: Consumer Service Delivery Level 2, with a salary range of $67,330 - $72,196 per annum, pro rata + Superannuation
- Location: Mental Health Alternative Care Service, Port Pirie SA.
Overview of the Program & Position
The Port Pirie Mental Health Alternative Care Service (MHACS) is a partnership between the Yorke and Northern Local Health Network and Neami National. The MHACS is a pilot project aimed at providing a welcoming, peer-lead mental health care experiences outside of a hospital for people presenting with low acuity mental health symptoms.
The Peer Support Worker will work as part of a multidisciplinary mental health team to deliver focused mental health care service for individuals. The Peer Support Worker is responsible for providing quality mental health psychosocial and recovery support services in partnership with clients, families/carers, who present to the MHACS to maximise personal recovery, health and wellbeing and social inclusion for adults living with a mental illness.
What you will bring to the role?
- Demonstrate the ability to draw from their own story and experience of mental illness to best support clients of the MHACS.
- Operate from a strengths-based approach and ability to educate people on effective steps to recovery
- Demonstrate ability to manage client data files, including entry of minimum data set, client notes and managing clinician diaries
- Proven high level of communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing with clients, internal and external agencies and community members
- Demonstrated analytical thinking and appreciative inquiry skills, crisis intervention and debriefing skills.
- Ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team, to perform multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

Mandatory role requirements
- Neami National will require, as part of our condition of employment, that all candidates applying for any position must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 (have received three doses), (or have received two doses of an approved COVID-19 vaccine and have a scheduled appointment to receive their third dose.)
- Candidates will be required to provide appropriate evidence of COVID-19 vaccination to Neami National.
