<h3>About the role</h3>
As part of the Ngaanyatjarra Land and Culture Program, the Coordinator will work with the Rangers (employed under the Commonwealth funded Indigenous Ranger Program) to implement the Ngaanyatjarra Indigenous Protected Areas (IPA) Plan that covers 9.8 million ha of desert country. The Ngaanyatjarra IPA Plan has a strong focus on supporting Ngaanyatjarra people maintain their connection to country and on Indigenous knowledge/practice for the protection of environmental values. The plan recognises the importance of economic development for the well-being of communities.&nbsp;The role also involves assisting Ngaanyatjarra Rangers and senior knowledge holders to undertake cultural heritage protection and other fee for service activities in relation to land access issues in the region.&nbsp;

<h3>KEY&nbsp;RESPONSIBILITIES</h3>
Main Duties / Outcomes:
<ul>
<li>Support Ngaanyatjarra people to look after and manage country and support engagement with the Land and Culture program.</li>
<li>Facilitate and support Traditional Owners/ Community in the continuity of inter-generational transfer of Indigenous Knowledge and Practice.</li>
<li>Provide on-ground support, primarily to Indigenous Rangers, employed under the Ngaanyatjarra Ranger Project and Traditional Owners to deliver Land and Culture program objectives.</li>
<li>Facilitate the implementation of yearly Ranger team work plans, including logistics (planning and conducting regular field trips to remote area locations) procurement and administrative requirements.</li>
<li>Facilitate delivery of a range of field activities including cultural heritage management, threatened and pest species management, fire management, capacity building, rockhole cleaning and visitor and tourist management.</li>
<li>Assist the Ranger teams in the development of annual work plans and delivery of reporting requirements, in line with funding agreements.</li>
<li>Work collaboratively with Ngaanyatjarra Land and Culture anthropology staff to undertake land access activities including fieldwork and other research associated with Native Title issues.</li>
<li>Work&nbsp;collaboratively&nbsp;with&nbsp;other&nbsp;Ngaanyatjarra&nbsp;Land and Culture program&nbsp;staff&nbsp;to implement the&nbsp;program&rsquo;s land and cultural heritage management projects, including managing grants and project budgets reporting and acquittals.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Collect&nbsp;and&nbsp;manage&nbsp;Geographic Information&nbsp;System (GIS) data.</li>
<li>Maintain ongoing&nbsp;accurate&nbsp;records&nbsp;of&nbsp;project&nbsp;activities.</li>
<li>Provide&nbsp;field support to&nbsp;other Land&nbsp;and&nbsp;Culture&nbsp;staff.</li>
<li>Provide&nbsp;support to&nbsp;feral camel management&nbsp;activities of&nbsp;the&nbsp;Ngaanyatjarra Camel Company</li>
<li>Attend&nbsp;to&nbsp;the&nbsp;general maintenance&nbsp;and&nbsp;upkeep&nbsp;of vehicles and equipment&nbsp;used in fieldwork.</li>
<li>Prepare&nbsp;project plans, reports, funding&nbsp;applications,&nbsp;budgets&nbsp;and&nbsp;financial&nbsp;acquittals as required.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Communicate project outcomes to a wider audience.</li>
<li>Additional tasks&nbsp;as&nbsp;directed by Land and Culture General Manager.&nbsp;</li>
</ul>
<h3>SELECTION CRITERIA</h3>
Essential:
<ul>
<li>Enthusiasm&nbsp;and willingness to&nbsp;live in&nbsp;a remote&nbsp;Aboriginal community.</li>
<li>Qualifications in relevant field: Anthropology (highly desirable); Natural Resource Management, Environmental Science, Ecology, Agricultural Sciences, Outdoor Education extensive relevant experience including logistical support for land management / heritage projects (especially in remote environments); bore and machinery maintenance.</li>
<li>Ability&nbsp;to work&nbsp;independently&nbsp;and in&nbsp;small&nbsp;teams; ability to&nbsp;prioritise&nbsp;&amp; plan&nbsp;flexible &amp; creative work&nbsp;programs.</li>
<li>Practical aptitude for technical manual tasks and a demonstrated ability to pass skills on to others.</li>
<li>Cross-cultural communication skills.</li>
<li>Well-developed&nbsp;written&nbsp;and&nbsp;oral communication skills including the ability to write reports and/ or deliver presentations for a range of audiences and to communicate effectively with a range of indigenous and non-indigenous audiences.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Good word&nbsp;processing and&nbsp;spreadsheet skills.</li>
<li>Current driver&rsquo;s&nbsp;license and Working with Children Check or ability / willingness to obtain these.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Willingness to undergo a full medical as this position requires a high level of fitness to perform the role.</li>
</ul>
Desirable:
<ul>
<li>Experience working with Aboriginal communities and knowledge/ understanding of the challenges affecting Western Desert Aboriginal people.</li>
<li>Experience in the use and maintenance of four-wheel drive vehicles in the field.</li>
<li>Experience in GPS/GIS&nbsp;data&nbsp;gathering&nbsp;and&nbsp;software&nbsp;use (highly desirable).</li>
<li>Proactive approach&nbsp;to&nbsp;ensuring safe and&nbsp;healthy&nbsp;work&nbsp;practices,&nbsp;including&nbsp;knowledge of relevant&nbsp;occupational health and safety issues&nbsp;as&nbsp;they&nbsp;apply&nbsp;to living,&nbsp;working&nbsp;and travelling&nbsp;safely in isolated and&nbsp;remote areas.</li>
<li>Experience with safe handling of firearms.</li>
<li>Experience working&nbsp;in rural areas&nbsp;or&nbsp;the&nbsp;bush&nbsp;and&nbsp;or&nbsp;with remote Aboriginal People.</li>
</ul>
