Nawarddeken Academy in West Arnhem Land is calling for an adventurous educator to join our supportive, bi-cultural learning environment in Term 3, 2025. The school is located in Manmoyi Outstation, a homeland community of around 60 people. The community is a rich, vibrant home of Nawarddeken (people of the Stone Country) determined to remain on their ancestral estates.

Rich in tradition, knowledge, and connection to Country, this community offers an immersive and enriching experience for a teacher who is seeking to engage meaningfully with their students and families.

We’re looking for a primary teacher who is:

  • Committed to authentic bi-cultural education
  • A passionate EAL/D educator who can develop students' literacy and numeracy skills using Science of Reading and explicit teaching practises
  • Enthusiastic about learning and working collaboratively in teaching teams with Bininj (First Nations) teachers in multi-age classrooms
  • A practical person with initiative, who can deliver purposeful learning alongside creative problem solving, in a very remote, homeland community

Ideal applicants have:

  • Experience teaching the Australian Curriculum
  • The ability to adapt to multi-age, remote classrooms
  • A flexible and proactive approach to teaching and classroom management, with knowledge on explicitly teaching foundational literacy and numeracy skills
  • Willingness to work in partnership with local teachers and community members

All teachers must hold or be willing to obtain:

  • NT Teacher Registration (TRB)
  • NT Ochre Card (WWCC) and Current National Police Check
  • First Aid (including CPR & Anaphylaxis)
  • Manual Driver’s Licence
  • 4WD Training (preferred)
  • Bronze Medallion (preferred)
  • Eligibility to work full time in Australia - Unlimited Work Rights
