ABOUT THE ROLE
Nature Advisory is looking for a Senior Project Officer to join our Victorian team, based in our Hawthorn East office. This is your opportunity to bring your administrative and organisational expertise to a team working on meaningful and engaging projects across the state.
This role is a 12-month parental leave replacement position on a full-time basis, although part-time may be considered for the right candidate.
As a key member of the team, you'll play a vital role in assisting project managers in the planning, budgeting, implementing, and delivery of projects, while also providing support in team development and innovation.
The Project Officer role is a key support position for our team of professional scientific staff and is responsible for supporting and coordinating staff from various teams and disciplines in all aspects of our projects - from project inception and quoting, through planning, scheduling, gathering site information, implementation and issue resolution, reporting, referrals, invoicing and project tracking, and retrospectives upon project completion. This role provides a highly varied working week, replete with opportunities and challenges across our ecological services, broad client base, and the various sectors that seek our knowledge and expertise. Other key contributions of the role will include sharing your passion and knowledge of process development and improvement to support the project management team in continuous improvement to offer best in class client outcomes.
key responsibilities of the role include:
- Project tracking and team support: You’ll take the reins on supporting the project management team to manage and delivery projects effectively. Although the project managers keep things on track, on time and on budget while ensuring high standards of quality and client satisfaction, your role is to be their conscience and support them to successfully and consistently achieve these targets;
- Proposal development: You will support the project management team to respond to fee proposal requests in a consistent and timely manner, ensuring outgoing proposals are comprehensive and compliant with internal guidelines, including maintaining registers and supporting follow up;
- Project support & implementation: You will assist project managers in developing and implementing project plans, taking responsibility for scheduling and monitoring progress using our project management system, as well as developing processes and tools to facilitate timely and effective delivery of projects;
- Administration: You will be an admin whiz, developing an intimate knowledge of our primary software systems, as well as our processes in order to recommend enhancements and innovations to continue improving our efficient, effective and professional delivery of projects and outcomes;

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Prior experience in similar role, wherein coordination, organisation, planning and logistics are core responsibilities
- A can-do attitude and a desire to take initiative
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to work effectively in multi-disciplinary teams, fostering a culture of mutual support and teamwork
- Demonstrated ability to problem solve with a proactive approach to overcoming challenges
- Proactive, collaborative approach to work, including the ability to juggle multiple priorities and projects
- High level of proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as an aptitude to master additional software
- Demonstrated excellence in both internally and externally focused customer service
- An interest in ecology and the environment will be well regarded
THE FOLLOWING ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE WILL BE LOOKED UPON FAVOURABLY:
- Graduate qualifications (or higher) in ecology or related discipline
- Prior experience in environmental consulting
- Knowledge and experience in the requirements of ecological impact assessments and the regulatory requirements relevant to ecology at different levels of government
