NTEU represents more than 26,000 staff in Australia's tertiary education system. We are a progressive Union whose principal work is to advance the professional and industrial interests of members, and we maintain active interests in public policy advocacy, Indigenous social justice, climate activism, as well as international higher education.
At NTEU, we are transforming the way that we work. With that in mind, we are currently looking for a Communications Manager to join our National Campaigns and Organising Team.
With special skills in the development and implementation of communication strategies including production, design and use of publications and websites, you will also be assessing training needs and organising training of relevant staff. As a key member of the team, you will also be required to foster a culture of innovation in communications.
You are someone who can develop campaign narratives as well as manage volunteer and paid content creators to ensure that there is a regular flow of engaging content for use in digital communications.
We're seeking a creative, strategic, and driven individual who excels at seeing projects through from conception to execution. You will have exceptional editorial, writing, and production skills, with extensive experience in digital media. A background in unionism, campaigning, or working within community-focused organisations is essential.
This is a part-time position (at 0.5) based in our South Melbourne office, and is offered as a fixed-term contract until 16 February 2026.
Salary will be in the range NTEU Level 7, depending on skills and experience, plus 17.5% employer superannuation. Terms and conditions for this position are covered by a comprehensive national collective agreement.
