At Northern Australian Aboriginal Family Legal Service (NAAFLS) we provide support, education, and legal representation for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in matters relating to domestic, family and sexual violence. We provide a holistic and culturally appropriate service with focus on ensuring the best possible outcome for our clients.

We offer our services to the whole of the Top End, East Arnhem and Big River regions of the NT. We specialise in delivering our services to people living in remote communities and operate through the bush court system.

The Role

We're looking for a Solicitor to join our Aboriginal legal service, based in our Darwin or Katherine Office. You'll be working collaboratively within a team comprising solicitor and case worker, travelling to remote parts of the Top End of the Northern Territory to provide an accessible and culturally sensitive legal service.

You will have an understanding of the needs of culturally diverse clients, particularly in relation to Indigenous to victims of family violence living in remote community settings and a sound understanding of the litigation and dispute resolution processes relevant to Family Law, domestic violence orders, crimes compensation, child protection and other areas of law.

Availability to undertake overnight travel to remote communities as required is essential.

You will possess a current ‘C’ Class driver's licence and must obtain a clear Police Check and Working with Children Clearance should you be successful in being appointed in this role.
