Disability Support Work involves assisting a range of clients with a variety of needs in a number of different ways.

The Organisation

The Role

Working in Neighbourhood Teams in your very own community, under the direction of a Neighbourhood Team Leader, the Support Worker assists and supports our clients, in line with their NDIS plan, to achieve their goals through a person-centred approach of ‘choice and control’.

Day to day duties may include (but are not limited to):

• Assisting clients to complete and/or develop life-skills in household duties and yard/home maintenance, such as cleaning, cooking, shopping, budgeting etc;
• Transporting clients to appointments and/or shopping for and/or with client;
• Assisting clients in building client self-image and self-confidence;
• Assisting clients in social and community participation;
• Promoting independence and well-being;
• Assisting clients with personal care and manual handling; including showering and bowel care;
• Medical administration (if qualified);
• Administration, e.g. daily journal reporting;
• Working within the NDIS guidelines and escalate relevant information to Team Leaders.

The Candidate

To be successful in this role, the candidate would have:

• The ability to maintain clear professional boundaries;
• Experience with personal care (Desirable)
• Experience with challenging behaviours (Desirable)
• Experience with catheter and bowel care (Desirable)
• Experience using hoists (Desirable)

The locations for work will vary depending on the client(s) and their needs within the area. We are currently recruiting for the Geraldton/Walkaway, Western Australia Region.
