Background:

The Marist Brothers are an international religious institute of consecrated men dedicated to making Jesus Christ known and loved through the Christian education and evangelisation of young people, especially those most in need.

Marist Youth Ministry:

Marist Youth Ministry is aimed at young people aged between 12-25. The mission of Marist Youth Ministry is to make Jesus Christ known and loved among young people, and to enable them to grow as lifelong disciples of Jesus, in the way of Mary and St Marcellin Champagnat. Marist Youth Ministry supports school based and young adult programs. The principal school involvement is through the six-year Christian leadership program, known as Game Changers. A suite of post-school opportunities include prayer and worship, service and solidarity, and a range of local and international volunteering opportunities. MYM operates in partnership with Marist Schools Australia.

You will work closely with the National Game Changers Coordinator and the MYM National Coordinator to support them in delivering our school-based programs. Ideally, you will commence work with the Marist Brothers on 13 January 2020.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Assist in managing regional and national Marist Youth Ministry events
  • Assist in managing budgets and financial obligations of Marist Youth Ministry
  • Assist in managing office responsibilities for the Game Changers and Marist Youth Ministry office

Selection criteria:

  • A strong commitment to the mission and teachings of the Catholic Church in the Marist tradition
  • Be attracted to Marist spirituality as an engaging way of living the Gospel
  • Considerable experience working in a similar role
  • Possess an appreciation for contemporary Catholic youth ministry
  • High levels of IT skills including, Office 365 and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Forward thinking and great problem-solving ability
  • High attention to detail
  • An autonomous achiever yet a proven ability to work cohesively in a team environment
  • Ability to act with discretion and confidentiality
  • Excellent organisational and administration skills
