ABOUT THE JOB

The Practice Lead - Strengthening Families is responsible for management of activities conducted by the Women’s Shelter, Family Support and Legal Teams and 1800 Respect Team (collectively, the Strengthening Families Team).

The Practice Lead provides direct line management for the Outreach Coordinator, Shelter Coordinator, Social Worker/s, Art Therapist/s/Counsellor/s, 1800 Team Lead and provides program support to the Legal Team (Legal Team works as part of holistic group but is managed more autonomously). In addition to line management and program oversight, the role is responsible for completing service reports and managing program compliance as well as recruitment, performance, and support for the workgroup.

While not directly providing case coordination and case management support for women, the Practice Lead may provide case consultation and clinical oversight and provide outreach support.

The Practice Lead will work closely with the EO and CEO to advocate for change and secure additional funding in support of family violence prevention and response in the Fitzroy Valley. This may include collating case summaries and examples of strengths and challenges of response/issues in the Valley and proposing alternate way forward to inform position papers and consultation pieces.

ABOUT YOU

You are purpose-driven with a demonstrated understanding of, and commitment to, the rights and interests of First Nations people. You’re able to connect and enable others to connect. You’re an advocate for change who is flexible, open, and adaptable. You’re inquisitive, creative and a clear thinker. You are compassionate and listen deeply. You know your strengths and recognise your limitations. Working within a healing framework and trauma aware workplace, you are committed to decolonising your own approach and work practices.

ABOUT YOUR WORK EXPERIENCE

You come with qualifications and experience that preferably includes one or more of the following areas:

  • Clinical Governance / quality assurance in service delivery.
  • Counselling, social work, psychology, community services or related field.
  • Family & Domestic Violence / Sexual Assault
  • Managing and leading teams
  • Crisis accomodation / advocacy for women & families

You understand working in WA context, and preferably have some experience supporting regional/remote/very remote community settings.

WHAT DOES A TYPICAL DAY AT MWRC?

No two days are the same and this isn’t your usual clinical lead role. The role is part of a close-knit multidisciplinary team delivering a holistic family centric service. In addition to supporting legal representation and support to clients, the role also requires you to work alongside professionals from non-legal fields that deliver assistance in the areas of social work support, trauma informed counselling and Indigenous-led support in communities.

You will support the provision of culturally informed, trauma-aware services to women and families across the Fitzroy Crossing and surrounding communities in the Fitzroy Valley region. You’ll contribute to the identification of community education priorities and the development of outreach & education programs. You might participate in community networks and build/maintain relationships with referring agencies, key organisations, community leaders and local people relevant to legal issues.

This role may be based in the Central/West Kimberley or remotely (with some travel to Fitzroy Crossing necessary).
