Moonee Valley Legal Service

About Moonee Valley Legal Service

Moonee Valley Legal Service (MVLS) is a dynamic not-for-profit community legal centre working on Wurundjeri Country. Since 1985, we’ve been committed to providing free legal advice, advocacy, and community legal education to people who live, work or study in the City of Moonee Valley—particularly those facing systemic disadvantage and marginalisation.

We are co-located at Wingate Avenue Community Centre in Ascot Vale, and work closely with local communities through regular outreach at the Flemington public housing estate, cohealth older persons housing, Moonee Valley Libraries, Wintringham housing, and the Travancore Prevention and Recovery Centre (PARC).

About the Role

MVLS is seeking a values-driven and experienced Manager to lead our committed team and ensure the smooth operation and ongoing development of the service. This is an exciting leadership opportunity to help shape a community-based legal service that places people, relationships and justice at the heart of its work.

In this role, you’ll:

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership in collaboration with the Board of Management
  • Oversee staffing, finance, compliance, risk management and service delivery
  • Foster a supportive, inclusive and high-performing team culture
  • Build strong relationships with community partners, funders and stakeholders
  • Drive continuous improvement and innovation in line with MVLS’s values and goals

About You

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Is passionate about social justice, community development and equity
  • Has experience in organisational or service management (preferably in the not-for-profit or community sector)
  • Is skilled across HR, budgeting, compliance, governance and quality improvement
  • Communicates with clarity, warmth and purpose
  • Thrives in collaborative, relationship-based environments

Why Join Us?

  • Work for a values-aligned organisation making a tangible difference
  • Salary packaging and 3% above the Victorian Community Legal Centre's Multi Enterprise Agreement
  • Flexible work arrangements to support work-life balance
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP) access
  • Join a community of passionate people working toward justice and equity

Moonee Valley Legal Service is committed to diversity and inclusion. We strongly encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people with lived experience of the justice system or housing insecurity, people from culturally and linguistically diverse communities, and people with disability.
