ABOUT MIGRANT RESOURCE CENTRE TASMANIA (MRC TAS)

Migrant Resource Centre Tasmania (MRC Tas) is a not-for-profit organisation that works alongside people from refugee and migrant backgrounds, so individuals and communities throughout lutruwita/Tasmania thrive. We provide effective, targeted and meaningful services in the South, North and North West of the State.

The Settlement and Youth Services team provides services to support members of culturally and linguistically divers (CALD) communities, including information and referral, employment and industry projects including support for skilled migrants, settlement case support, driving support, and community development activities. The Multicultural Youth Tasmania (MYT) program provides targeted services and projects to support young people aged up to 25 years from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds to reach their full potential and thrive as active citizens of the Tasmanian community.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Case Manager will provide a pivotal role in ensuring that services are provided to people from refugee and migrant backgrounds.

The Case Manager will work collaboratively with other programs and services within MRC Tas, along with other relevant external agencies to provide strengths-based case management, community information sessions, and referral services.

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE

  • Service, Youth Work, Bachelor of Psychology and relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the efficient coordination of cases with an emphasis on best practice case management and efficient service delivery.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver and to coordinate volunteers to deliver group programs that build the skills and capacity of clients to settle and live successfully in Tasmania.
  • Effective interpersonal, communication and client advocacy skills with the ability to liaise with internal and external agencies, as well as intercultural communication with clients, their communities and the volunteer workforce.
  • Strong writing, reporting, time management and organisational skills, with the ability to meet key organisational and contractual requirements.
  • Demonstrated competence in the use of technology in a professional work environment.
  • Sound understanding of issues facing youth people from refugee backgrounds and their families.
  • Australian Drivers Licence.
  • Knowledge of and experience in the delivery of settlement services (desirable).
  • Lived experience of settlement in Australia as a migrant or refugee (desirable).
