Campus Life has an exciting new Part-time Fixed term (3 days a week,12-month appointment) position in our Junior Science Academy (JSA) team. JSA provides primary school aged children with the opportunity to explore the world of STEM in a fun and safe environment during the school holidays through our mainstream program as well as our program for children who are deaf or hard of hearing.
We want to establish a new stream that will deliver programs through schools, engage with our School of Education to up skill students in teaching STEM (including robotics) and identify other outreach opportunities. Reporting to the GM Programs & Partnerships, this role will be instrumental in building the schools program from scratch. It will also work closely with the University’s Widening Participation Unit to provide STEM offerings to children and/or schools in marginalised, under-represented, and/or disadvantaged communities which they might otherwise not have access to.
There is potential for this to be an ongoing position and to increase hours, depending on the success of the first year of establishment.
We are seeking a teacher with extensive experience who loves all things STEM and has a toolkit of strategies to ensure children are engaged and developing a ‘thinking scientifically’ mindset.
You have a solution focused attitude, excellent communication skills and thrive working in a collaborative and creative team. You demonstrate initiative, enjoy taking a project from the idea through to implementation, and are driven to achieve excellence in the workplace. You are committed to equity and inclusion and want to implement programs that make a difference in the lives of young people.
