About us
The research capacity of the Movember Institute of Men's Health is being met by a major investment in building a men’s health research workforce and, ensuring growth of the sector by producing leaders who will seed research programs and support career pathways in men’s health for future generations of researchers inside and outside of Movember.
The Institute supports a connected cohort of early and mid career men’s health researchers (PhD Candidates, Postdoctoral Fellows, and Senior Researchers) across its markets and offers a structured program of career mentorship and collaboration to these researchers individually and collectively as an international cohort.
The successful candidate will have responsibility for the Institute’s discovery research program, which seeks to achieve the strategic goal of building the men’s health research field.
Given the discovery research program is a new program of work, the successful candidate will need to be highly motivated with the demonstrated capacity to embark on the establishment of a novel research program delivered by external partners, with an international footprint. This will involve initial grant scope and design, supporting contracting, reviewing applications, convening, connecting and mentoring successful grantees to support long-term research field building.
This includes;
Establishment and Implementation
- In collaboration with the Global Director, Men's Health Research, establish and subsequently lead the discovery research program in line with board-approved timelines, expected outcomes and KPI’s across 6 international markets.
- Initiate and oversee grant peer review and selection processes for external researchers to be funded by the Institute, with the support of our grant management team, for external PhD Candidates and Postdoctoral Fellows, and Senior Leadership (Professorial) Fellows (part-time).
- Ensure compliance with ethical guidelines and regulatory requirements across international jurisdictions.
Stakeholder & Partnership Development
- Lead strategic international convening events (i.e., international conference and workshops) for the Institute’s funded researchers contributing to knowledge translation and networking.
- Cultivate relationships with key stakeholders (i.e., academic institutions) and broader networks (i.e., healthcare organisations and funding partners).
- Identify and develop strategic partnerships to enhance research capacity and impact.
- Establish effective ways of working with our key stakeholders within and across markets.
Program Evaluation & Impact Assessment
- Implement metrics/systems to track the effectiveness and impact of funded research and researchers over the long term.
- Monitor annual performance of grant recipients (i.e., PhD Fellows, Postdoctoral Fellows) relative to expected progress and KPIs, including initiating and assessing outcomes of corrective action (if needed).
- Ensure accurate record keeping and reporting (e.g., to Movember Board, Annual Impact Report).
Team Management & Development
- Develop and direct the mentoring program of scientific staff within the Institute.
- Build team capacity through ongoing professional development opportunities.
- Manage internal Institute grants offered to PhD Fellows and Postdoctoral Fellows funded by the Institute.
- Manage support for academic publications emanating from Institute researchers (i.e., provision of open access funding from the Institute).
Thought Leadership and Strategic Thinking
- Actively contribute to scientific leadership of the adjacent community-based program (where a significant research and evidence building component exists).
- Actively participate as a senior leader within the Institute, including involvement in thought leadership both internally, and externally, through coordination of, and contribution to academic opinion pieces with Institute international colleagues.
- Act as a spokesperson and advocate for the Institute, including raising the profile of the Institute’s impact programs and research.
- Contribute to strategic thinking, supporting the Institute’s research capacity building agenda.

GOOD CAUSE:
Working for Movember, you’ll help raise millions for men’s health (not for a CEO’s bonus). And all those dollars do a whole lotta good. We’ve funded cancer research. Created lifesaving medicines. And helped make cancer treatments less “one-size-fits-all”, and more specific to each patient’s needs.
We’re even calling for governments worldwide to get it together on men’s health. By meeting directly with policymakers so they change the systems that change men’s health.

GOOD VIBES:
The vibes aren’t just for Fridays – even though we start weekends early nine months of the year. Here, it always feels like something big’s about to happen. Be it an office-wide surprise birthday party (with cake!) or an impromptu all-staff boogie.
Come the hairy season, the energy gets silly. We’re talking celebrity visits. Live stunts on-site for TV and radio. And when we hit a fundraising milestone, the office gong might even go off. And that means one thing: it’s conga time.

GOOD CREW:
Let’s just get this out of the way: big egos need not apply. We’re all about straight-up solid human beings out to do meaningful work.
People who’ll help you reach career-best moments. And give you the freedom to get there the best way you see fit.
Hybrid remote working is the norm. And in the office, you can sit where you please. Who knows? On any given day you could even end up desk buddies with the man who started this all.
- Flexible hybrid working from home and our modern Richmond office
- Finish work at 2pm on Fridays (Dec-Aug)
- NFP salary packaging (pay less tax)
- 13 weeks paid parental leave and 5 weeks annual leave
- Fun & collaborative culture with employee social events
- Free Headspace subscription and other wellbeing initiative
- Relaxed dress code

Boy, do we know the feeling of being judged. (Over how we look, and other things that shouldn’t matter.) Being different is how we started. And it’s also helped us raise $1 billion for men’s health. So, we know the power of diverse experiences, skills and perspectives.
And another impressive number is our WGEA gender pay gap: it sits at a big, fat, round 0%. If you’ve got the relevant skills and the right attitude, let nothing stand in your way of firing off your application.
Do you want to DO GOOD?
If so, we’d love to hear from you.
