About our opportunity

Based at our Caboolture Waste Management Facility, as the Facilities Officer - Waste you'll be providing technical advice and support and contributing to the effective and efficient operations of the waste facility, and waste management programs and services as well as:

• Being a key point of contact for team members in the day to day operations and service delivery of a large scale, complex waste management facility.
• Implementing and coordinating technical  improvement projects related to waste disposal and resource recovery.
• Developing and reviewing the department’s operational procedures, manuals, and work instructions.
• Ensuring site compliance with relevant legislation, approved standards, policies and procedures.
• Preparing reports, correspondence and associated admin.
• Undertaking environmental health and safety and contractor compliance audits, and awareness training programs.

This position requires the successful applicant to be available to work any 5 out of 7 days as part of the ordinary hours. The repeating roster covers a 9 day fortnight, included a mix of week and weekend days, and includes 2 consecutive non-work days each week.

About you

Bring your well developed experience in waste management facilities and transfer station operations to this role, as well as:

• Great online research skills and be comfortable analysing information and incident investigations.
• A track record of great project management and time management skills. 
• Skills in building high quality relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and work constructively and efficiently as part of a broader Waste Services team.
• C class driver's license (required).
• Construction Induction Card (or be willing to obtain at own expense prior to commencement).
• Tertiary qualification in waste management, environmental health/science, occupational health and safety or other relevant field, or have relevant experience in lieu of the qualification.
