Social work in mental health has a strong focus on the social context and social consequences of mental illness. Its purpose is to promote recovery, restore and maximise individual, family, and community wellbeing, to enhance development of each individual’s power and control over their lives, and to advance principles of social justice, which are fundamental to social work practice. Intervention will occur at the interface between the individual and the environment and extend to the contexts of family, social networks, community, and the broader society.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Grade 2 Social Worker with a strong interest in Mental Health. This role is a fixed term part-time role (0.8EFT) until March 2024 based at Casey Hospital.

A Day in the Life

Ward E is a part of Monash Health Mental Health Services, and is currently a 30 bed, well established unit that is known for its high performing and supportive culture. Its focus on quality services to consumers supporting access and flow have attracted many compliments from consumers and their families and carers.

About You

You are recognised for your clinical expertise in Social Work, supporting patients with mental health challenges and you are keen to develop your skills further. You lead by example, thrive working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and are truly passionate about delivering a high standard of evidence-based social work care to vulnerable people. You demonstrate exceptional communication, collaboration and problem solving skills to achieve excellent outcomes.

What you need:

  • Relevant experience as a qualified Social Worker at a senior level
  • An Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) accredited Bachelor Degree or entry level Master’s Degree of Social Work that provides eligibility for membership of the AASW
  • Written evidence of eligibility for AASW membership for overseas qualifications is required
