The Occupational Therapist (OT) is a specialist clinical mental health role. The Occupational Therapist will have training, qualifications and experience in assessing and treating adults with their mental health and occupational performance and participation.
The Occupational Therapist works within the multi-disciplinary team to provide discipline specific assessment and treatment that contributes to formulation and interventions provided on Unit 1. The successful applicant will draw on a strong occupational performance and participation framework and be familiar with current and emerging evidence-based practices for Occupational Therapy and mental health for patients with psychiatric difficulties, and their families.
The Occupational Therapist will also contribute their skills and knowledge through individually targeted interventions and the group program. The role includes specialist consultation and education to consumers, their families and community-based services. All Mental Health Clinicians focus on providing a professional clinical practice that is sensitive to issues of diversity, which adheres to professional ethics, relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
It is an expectation that the Occupational Therapist will also promote good working relationships between the Unit 1 team, the broader Monash Health Mental Health program, referring teams and relevant external agencies.
