The Mental Health Program serves consumers, their carers and families across the South Eastern metropolitan region with bed-based, community and rehabilitation programs. A Day in the Life:

As a Clinical Educator you will lead and train our new Dietitians in mental health care using existing training packages and by coordinating with internal and external training providers. You will ensure supervision and mentoring of early in Dietitian so that learning goals are achieved and they are well prepared for future roles within the mental health program following their graduate year. Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead and engage early in career Dietitian working in the mental health program, to build their capacity and capability to deliver high quality dietetic services to consumers, carers and families.
  • Organise and implement supervision and mentoring programs for early in career workforce in collaboration with relevant discipline senior staff.
  • Provide operational management of some of the early in career Dietitian as identified by the Manager of Allied Health
  • Ensure the development and implementation of training programs meets the foundational mental health and discipline specific knowledge and skills required by grade 1 Dietitian working in mental health care.
  • Be the champion for practice change by engaging early in career Dietitian, their supervisors and managers in service delivery that is evidence based and assists the translation of new knowledge (evidence) to practice.
  • Lead and support quality improvement and research that promotes best practice of early in career Dietitians.

This position is based at Dandenong Hospital, however, work at and travel to any of the Monash Health sites will be required on a temporary or ad hoc basis.

  • You have demonstrated clinical expertise delivering dietetic assessments and interventions in mental health care. You enjoy developing others, are highly organised and a clear and warm communicator.
  • You have been developing your leadership and project management skills and are ready to implement a new initiative within the mental health program to benefit consumers, their families and carers.
  • Thrive in a fast paced environment and are truly passionate about delivering a high standard of evidence based dietetic interventions.

What You Need:

  • An approved undergraduate degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from a Dietetics Australia (DA) accredited course or an approved Bachelor of Science Degree (or equivalent qualification) followed by a postgraduate degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from a DA accredited course or The DSR dietetics examination for overseas trained dietitians, administered by DA.
  • Eligible for membership of DA and Accredited practicing Dietitian (APD) status
  • Demonstrated dietetics and mental health experience (normally seven years)
  • Qualification in education, leadership or relevant postgraduate qualification is highly regarded
  • Victorian Driver's Licence
  • Australian working rights
