WHO IS WSCLC

Western Sydney Community Legal Centre (WSCLC) supports individuals who find themselves in vulnerable or disadvantaged situations and unable to successfully navigate and have access to the NSW justice system.

WSCLC is transforming the way it delivers the services and committed to working with the community to provide increased access and support to navigating the complexity of the social justice system.

Our services are focused in the areas of domestic violence, support of children in the Court systems, facilitating visits between children and parents, tenancy, home building and general legal issues.

KEY PURPOSE

The Solicitor is responsible for the delivery of high-quality legal services that meet priority community needs, including advice, assistance, representation and referral services to clients in the areas of law practised by WSCLC.

ABOUT THE ROLE

• Location: Parramatta and Western Sydney
• Hours: Full time - 35 hours per week.
• Duration: Immediate start until 30 June 2025 with the possibility of extension, subject to funding.
• Remuneration: Social, Community, Home Care & Disability Services (SCHADS) Industry Award 2010; Level 6.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

•  Provide professional legal services to clients in:
  • the Civil Law practice including administrative, consumer, housing and employment law
  • the Criminal Law practice including Local Court representation, and appearances in the Duty List
  • the Family and Care and Protection Law practice
• Ensure the legal services are delivered in accordance with WSCLC’s policies and procedures and are focused on achieving WSCLC’s objectives and funding obligations, including providing timely and quality legal services.
• Build relationships and effective referral pathways with internal and external stakeholders, including referrals to specialist legal and non-legal services.
