Details of the role

PORTS is a service funded and operating under the Western Australia Primary Health Alliance (WAPHA). PORTS plays a key role in providing mental health service as part of a stepped-care model, delivered across the entire state and engage with external stakeholders to ensure best care for the patients.

All patients are referred by a GP or other health professional. Therapists conduct psychological assessments to help patients understand their symptoms and treatment needs. Therapists also deliver effective intervention through our structured CBT treatment courses and Telephone Support programs. These interventions have been developed and refined through extensive research and analysis.

About Us

PORTS has clinics in Perth and Macquarie University, Sydney, locations. We work cohesively as a team within and across both sites using technology-driven and in-person communication.

PORTS is part of MindSpot, which operates under MQ Health. MQ Health is located at the Macquarie University Health Sciences Centre (MUHSC), which is an innovative patient-focused health system. It combines Macquarie University Hospital, the MQ Health Clinics and the Macquarie University Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences to deliver integrated clinical care, research, and learning.

MindSpot is an internationally recognised translational research group. Our vision is to build an emotionally resilient world using technology to improve access to, and quality of mental health services. MindSpot comprises a research clinic (eCentreClinic, www.ecentreclinic.org), a national online mental health service (MindSpot Clinic, www.mindspot.org.au), and a state-based virtual mental health service (PORTS, www.ports.org.au). Combined, these clinics serve more than 25,000 patients each year.

The PORTS clinic operates from 9am to 5pm WST, Mon – Fri, although we are currently trialling some limited extensions to service hours based on patient interest. As PORTS is a Western Australia focussed service, all therapists work to Western Australia hours, regardless of location. This also means all therapists observe the Western Australia public holidays.
