Mind Australia is one of Australia’s largest providers of community-managed psychosocial services, supporting people experiencing mental health and wellbeing challenges to find help, hope and purpose in their lives. Operating for more than 45 years and employing more than 1,300 staff around Australia, Mind is a leading employer of people with lived experience of mental health challenges, recognising their unique ability to connect with and motivate clients and guide recovery.
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Service Manager to lead the operations of two of our services in Cairns: the Community Care Unit (CCU) and the Adult Step up Step down (ASUSD) service. In this full-time, fixed-term position, you will oversee and manage all aspects of program operations, ensuring high-quality service delivery aligned with Mind’s Model of Recovery-Oriented Practice and organisational values. The Service Manager will also be responsible for achieving service performance and budget targets and for managing the service in accordance with approved systems, policies, and procedures.
The Community Care Unit (CCU) is a residential service providing intensive treatment and recovery support to help people experiencing serious mental health issues whose lives have been disrupted making living independently difficult. Clients have 24/7 access to staff and are supported to stabilise their mental health and develop the skills necessary to safely transition back into the community from a hospital environment.
The Adult Step Up Step Down residential service, delivered in partnership with QLD hospital networks and the local health service, supports adults with a psychosocial disability for up to 28 days to either transition from an acute hospital setting or prevent hospital admissions. ASUSD operates within a recovery-focused, clinical treatment framework, providing personalised one-on-one support, shared supports and group activities based on client’s strengths and goals as identified in their recovery plan.
