About the Carer Gateway services program:
After consultation with carers across the country, The Australian Government has expanded the funding and delivery of carer services. The result is the Integrated Carer Support Service model. Services offered to carers include face to face counselling and peer support, planning assistance and financial support packages. All services are available free of charge to those who have a caring role to someone in their life who has a disability, mental illness, chronic health condition, terminal illness, or are frail aged. Wellways provides these services to carers throughout the State of Queensland and in South West Sydney and Nepean Blue Mountains in New South Wales.
About the role:
The Carer Gateway Services Manager positions are newly created roles that exists to manage the establishment and implementation of new Carer Gateway Services in their respective service areas. The new Carer Gateway Services have been created in the context of national reforms and represent an exciting new era for the delivery of innovative carer services.
Key responsibilities include:
- Establish and manage the Carer Gateway Services across multiple locations including the management of the carer services contact centre (Brisbane role only)
- Recruit to, lead and manage teams to deliver high quality services across six different service types (Carer Support Planning, Face to face coaching, In-Person peer support, In-person counselling, carer directed support packages, and emergency respite care)
- Develop and manage Carer Services operating plans and budgets
- Engage with a diversity of stakeholders, including consortium partners and community providers to raise the profile of service offerings and monitor service volumes
- Monitor and review service quality and performance and reporting against contract objectives
Skills & experience:
- Thorough understanding of the caring role and evidence based, best practice in carer supports
- Understanding of the national carer policy, legislation and service landscape
- Demonstrated commitment to social inclusion and diversity
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage large, diverse team in delivering high quality services in complex programs
- Demonstrated ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders, including consortium partners
