Michelle’s Background and focus

Michelle is a mental health OT with decades of experience, who’s built a well-known allied health professional development practice based on her clinical and supervision practice. Michelle focuses on bringing dynamic and engaging programs in supervision, leadership, psychological safety and wellbeing to workplaces throughout Australia and New Zealand.

Michelle’s practice provides reduced fees for community sector and NFP organisations, providing training and support to professionals and organisations that support the most vulnerable people in our community.

Learning and Engagement Co-ordinator Role

Over the past 5 years, Michelle’s practice has seen unprecedented growth. Her team is growing, and she would value adding an allied health professional into the mix.

This role supports the development and implementation of Michelle’s practice. It has different elements: client relationship management, training program co-ordination, business planning and promotion. We expect this role to evolve and be tailored to the unique skills and strengths of the successful candidate. Together with Michelle, you will help meet the business’ strategic objectives, which include growth and a constant flow of projects and programs.

Michelle’s Team

The successful candidate will work in a great part-time role, treated with exceptional integrity, respect and kindness. They will be working flexible hours, mostly from our McKinnon office and if it suits them, there is the option to work from home. They will be work closely with Michelle's team of part-time staff, many of whom work virtually, who all have clearly identified roles and responsibilities.

Our team include admin and business staff with expertise in finance, co-ordination, graphic design and content management. We have a full-time virtual assistant, a part time business consultant, and 4 professional supervisors who are contracted to provide supervision, coaching and training and facilitation programs. We have exceptionally well-developed systems and processes utilising many of the best business tools available.

Position Description

To be successful in this role you will be involved in these key functions:

Practice and business support

  • The primary focus of this role is to be a support and sounding board to Michelle in running the business, anticipate what she might need to manage the practice, the client relationships and help her maintain her mojo.

Client Relationship and Program Co-ordination

  • Engage with clients from first contact to program completion, ensuring programs and projects run smoothly. These are managers and senior managers and require a confident, professional and engaging approach.
  • Manage client communication and relationships, including attending online meetings, follow up and feedback conversations and communications.

Team Co-ordination

  • Co-ordinate regular team meetings to keep on top of upcoming workshops and all projects.
  • Provide a backup to Michelle in supporting and co-ordinating highly independent admin staff.

Program and Business Development, Relationship Building & Promotion

  • Support Michelle to implement the strategic plan and be a sounding board for program ideas and plans.
  • Participate in developing ideas to implement promotion strategies, via social media (LinkedIn), newsletters, etc.
  • Support implementation of free sessions & resources and highlight potential opportunities. Work with Michelle to build new relationships.

Utilise systems and platforms

  • A strong ability to learn and utilise our very well-developed systems and platforms.

Future Opportunities

Once established, there are future opportunities to take an active role in providing supervision, moderating professional platforms that are currently in development and other exciting new initiatives.

About You – Personal Skills and Style

Michelle requires an experienced, reliable, honest and authentic mental health OT or allied health professional who is looking for change in focus. This role is different from clinical work and is ideal for someone with exceptional professional, relationship and organisational skills.

Desirable attributes:

  • Over 15 years of professional experience
  • Experience in supervision / learning program co-ordination / team leadership
  • Exceptional software platform skills
  • Business experience

Michelle’s practice requires someone with emotional intelligence and life wisdom and a willingness to work autonomously and take a high level of professional responsibility.

She is looking for a problem-solver, with excellent communication skills and a willingness to partner with her and the rest of the team to maximise opportunities. Although we have a clear plan and strategy, in a small practice, priorities can change suddenly, which can be interesting and challenging, and flexibility is critical.
