Micah Projects provides a range of support and advocacy services to individuals and families.

Home for Good works to find sustainable solutions for people who are homeless or for individuals, families and children who might become homeless without support. Located in inner-city Brisbane, a range of services are available for individuals and families including information, support, advocacy, health, recreational, and employment services.

These services are funded and compliant with Queensland Government Specialist Homelessness Program Guidelines.

As a Support and Advocacy Worker you will work as part of Home for Good to provide centre based services, with outreach elements, through assessment, triage and prioritisation based on presenting needs of individuals and families who are experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness.

This is a fixed term full time employment opportunity with conditions and salary at Level 3 of the SCHADS Award.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver centre-based and outreach support services.
• Develop support and health care plans.
• Advocate and liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
• Prepare documentation and referrals for housing and services.
• Transport individuals to services or safe accommodation as needed.
• Maintain accurate records and data entry.
• Participate in supervision, training, and team meetings.
• Contribute to a safe and inclusive workplace.

Essential:

• Relevant qualifications and/or experience in community services.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Experience working with people in crisis, including those experiencing homelessness.
• Cultural competency, particularly with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
• IT proficiency, including Microsoft Office and case management systems.
• A current driver’s licence and National Police Certificate.

Desirable:

• Knowledge of homelessness, poverty, and trauma-informed practice.
• First Aid Certificate.
