Position Overview

The Trainer will deliver a suite of training programs to a range of audiences including community organisations, healthcare providers, and ACT Government directorates. Trainers will deliver Meridian’s LGBTIQA+ [Ai] Foundation module as well as LGBTIQA+ [Ai] Allyship and Affirming Healthcare modules.

Position Responsibilities

  • Attend “Train the Trainer” sessions for Meridian’s inclusivity training modules.
  • Be familiar with the content in each training module you will be delivering.
  • Maintain currency of subject matter.
  • Meet scheduling and rostering commitments for training delivery.
  • Attend regular team meetings.
  • Collect post evaluation data for each training session.
  • Participate in post training session debriefing sessions.
  • Collaborate with the Training and Education Coordinator to identify changes and updates to the training modules.
  • Be familiar with and understand the services offered by Meridian.

Qualifications, Key Attributes and Skills Essential

  • Relevant qualifications in workplace training or related discipline and/or 3+ years’ experience in delivering workplace training.
  • Sound knowledge of LGBTIQA+ people and communities.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the diversity within human experiences of sex, gender and sexuality.
  • Excellent understanding of adult learning principles with a proven track record of delivering standardised learning modules.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills, including facilitation and public speaking.
  • Experience interacting and working effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders and colleagues.
  • Experience in using online platforms for training delivery including Microsoft Teams, ZOOM and WebEx.
  • ACT Working With Vulnerable People (WWVP) Registration and Current Driver’s License are essential.

Desirable

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment Details of casual appointment
  • Shifts will be a 3 hour minimum with a minimum of 24 hours’ notice.
  • Trainers will be required to arrive (or log on) 30 minutes prior to the training session commencement time.
  • Trainers may deliver online training from home and arrange transport to face-to-face training at their own expense.
  • Trainers will be provided with all the necessary resources to deliver the training effectively and with confidence.
