Payroll Project Officer

Mercy Community is seeking a Payroll Project Officer to join our team on a 9-month fixed-term contract. Reporting to our Senior Payroll Project Officer, this role will be responsible for completion of payroll review tasks and projects.  You will join an experienced payroll team, where you will contribute your extensive knowledge around payroll processes and award application to achieve key outcomes on projects.

The Role

This newly created fixed-term position will support our growing organisation across Queensland on all matters relating to payroll. This role will be based from our Nudgee Office with opportunities to potentially Work From Home flexibility. 

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Undertake payroll process review.
  • Review of large sets of payroll and timesheet data for accuracy.
  • Test and configure payroll functionality in the system ensuring database integrity is maintained. 
  • Provide support to the Senior Project Payroll Officer and Financial Controller. 
  • Supporting the business-as-usual payroll team where required. 
  • Assisting with ad-hoc activities and related projects within payroll function.  

To be eligible for this position you will require: 

  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Advance payroll analysis and transaction reporting skills.
  • Understanding of Award/Enterprise Agreements and ability to apply these to payroll.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines. 
  • High attention to detail. 
  • Ability to efficiently learn new system/procedures. 
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • High level of customer service skills to support both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated intermediate/advanced ability to use IT systems including financial systems and Microsoft Office (Strong Excel skills).
  • Ability to obtain positive notice in the QLD Working with Children Check (Blue Card), NDIS Workers Screening clearance (Yellow Card), and any other legislatively required personal history screening as required.
