About the role

We are seeking an Infection Control Coordinator to join our corporate office in West Perth on a full-time basis. This role will be fixed term for six months and requires the successful candidate to provide support to the operational areas of MercyCare’s Aged Care and Disability services, and to aid the delivery of safe, high quality outcomes for clients by ensuring compliance with the Aged Care Quality Standards.

You will directly interact with external auditors and key internal stakeholders on matters related to audits, accreditation and improvement activities and addressing any areas or risk potential non-compliance.  The role will actively collaborate with the Aged Care and Disability Services team to drive a culture that supports a continuous improvement process that strives to provide high quality care and services.

In particular, the role is responsible for:

  • Coordinating the development of infection control plans to prevent the potential outbreak of COVID-19 at MercyCare’s Residential Aged Care facilities (RAC’s), ensuring effective lockdown and management of RAC’s in the event of community transmission in Western Australia
  • Developing clinical policies and procedures to limit and manage the exposure of RAC staff and residents to COVID-19

To be considered for this role, you will also require:

  • Registration with the Australian Health Professional Registration Authority (AHPRA) and in possession of current licence to practice
  • Extensive experience in Infection Control
  • Quality, risk and audit experience
  • Demonstrated experience leading and influencing others and supporting continuous quality improvement and compliance initiatives
  • Experience in developing, auditing, monitoring and improving quality systems; data interpretation and analysis from a variety of sources to inform business priority and quality improvement
  • Current Driver’s Licence and roadworthy vehicle
  • National Police Clearance (obtained within the last 6 months)
