About Menslink:
Menslink has been supporting young men in the Canberra region for twenty years through our free counselling, volunteer mentoring and education programs. In that time, we have helped thousands of young guys aged ten to twenty-five get through tough or lonely times with the least amount of pain or harm to themselves and those around them. We do that by helping young men make better choices and engage positively with society, reaching their full potential and becoming the great adult men they want to be. Because we believe everything is possible for them, their families, their mates and our community.
The core values that guide our work are:
- Caring – we show compassion, kindness and empathy
- Contribution – we strive to make a real, demonstrable and lasting impact
- Connection – we genuinely connect and collaborate
- Integrity – we do no harm and operate to the highest standards of ethical and professional behaviour
- Innovation – we continually review, improve and adapt our programs and approaches
About the role:
Menslink works to support young men, particularly in the Canberra region, through our interactive workshop programs delivered in schools aimed at improving mental health, building resilience, and providing a safe space for them to talk about issues.
The goal of these programs is to create a supportive environment where young men feel comfortable discussing mental health and other issues, building their resilience, and learning healthy ways to manage challenges.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and professionally deliver programs as an educational professional, guided by Menslink policies and our ‘Do No Harm’ Framework.
- Ensure high quality presentation/facilitation skills are applied creatively in program sessions and workshops to ensure an interactive and engaging experience for the participants.
- Contribute program design input to the development, improvement and planning of the Menslink’s Education Programs, as directed by the Education Program Manager.
- Maintain program record keeping on Salesforce and store all other relevant documentation efficiently.
- Provide feedback to ensure that all Education programs retain their impact, relevancy and appeal to young men, our stakeholders (in Education, government and sponsors) and the community.
- Contribute and co-administer the stakeholder survey and program evaluation process.
- Keep up to date with issues facing young men and youth more generally and contribute to the overall learning of Menslink staff and volunteers more generally.
- Work collaboratively and co-facilitate with Menslink staff, stakeholders and independently as required.
Who we are looking for:
A passionate individual with a calm and professional personality and engaging work style.
- Tertiary qualifications in education, training, facilitation such as a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment are highly desirable or relevant presentation experience will be considered.
- Demonstrated understanding and working knowledge of the principles and practices of training and development. This includes experience facilitating interactive and team-based training programs to a diverse audience (all ages, cultures, background). Capacity to be equally comfortable within a school, community or corporate setting.
- A strong client service and safety focus.
- High level planning, presentation and communication (written and verbal) skills.
- Sound decision making skills and ability to know what stories to safely share.
- Proactive self-starter with a demonstrated level of autonomy, as well as ability to work collaboratively in a small team environment.
