  • Part time 0.9 EFT (9 days per fortnight) (EFT negotiable) ongoing position based in Sunshine with some work at our Melton satellite clinic
  • Provide high quality family work to families of young people with complex mental illness

This is an exciting opportunity to positively impact the lives of young people aged 12-25 years old who are experiencing or are at risk of experiencing psychosis. The Early Psychosis team provides evidence-based interventions in the critical early stage of illness to reduce the impact of symptoms and support psychosocial recovery.

About the role:

  • Engage and work with young people and families, providing family-inclusive early intervention and promoting positive mental health outcomes for young people
  • Provide consultation, support and supervision to members of the multidisciplinary team regarding family inclusive principles and approaches
  • Provide inclusive and sensitive practice to young people and their families/carers from Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander, CALD and LGBTQIA backgrounds
  • Have the opportunity to utilise or further develop skills in research, discipline-specific interventions or portfolios, including dual diagnosis, physical health, systems work and other therapeutic modalities
  • Work within a supportive multi-disciplinary team environment with access to regular clinical supervision and professional development opportunities within Orygen

About you:

Formal Qualifications

  • This is a multidisciplinary role open to Registered Psychiatric Nurses, Social Workers, Psychologists or Occupational Therapists (must hold relevant degree, registration and/or membership as per attached Position Description)
  • Education and qualifications relating to Family/Systems therapy

Essential

  • Preferred previous experience in the provision of mental health treatment, including with young people.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and respectfully with young people and families/carers.
  • Ability to work independently and as an effective member of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Knowledge of the rationale and evidence for early intervention in mental illness.
