The Orygen Specialist Program (OSP) at RMH Mental Health provides early intervention and specialist mental health care for young people aged 12 to 25 with severe and complex conditions. Working alongside Orygen and four headspace services, OSP’s multidisciplinary teams offer tailored support including assessment, crisis intervention, therapy, medication, family support, and vocational and educational assistance. Targeted clinical streams address psychosis, mood, personality, substance use, eating, and neurodevelopmental disorders, while a forensic stream supports youth in and transitioning from custodial care. About the role:

The Helping Young People Early (HYPE) stream provides an evidence-based early intervention service for young people experiencing issues associated with severe personality disorder and/or other co-occurring mental health difficulties. The HYPE Stream aims to increase adaptive relationships; improve educational and vocational functioning; reduce the psychopathology; and promote safety health and wellbeing. The HYPE Steam model of Relational Clinical Care comprises assertive clinical case management, general psychiatric care, individual psychotherapy (using Cognitive Analytic Therapy; CAT), family work and other supports such as vocational support. Clinicians within HYPE are provided with CAT training and supervision and may be involved in knowledge translation and research activities.

The Clinical Stream Leader is a key leadership position within OSP. The incumbent is responsible for the provision of clinical leadership, training and supervision of a multidisciplinary team specialising in the provision of comprehensive case management and psychological therapy to clients attending the HYPE Clinical Stream.

You will:

  • Provide strategic clinical leadership and direction in development of a comprehensive service delivery model
  • Integrate learnings from the major sub-programs of Orygen, including the Clinical program, Research program and Training and Communications program, as well as other sources of evidence-based practice
  • Be involved in the clinical leadership of the continuing care services within the Clinical Stream
  • Promote and oversee fidelity to the clinical model of service delivery including clinical review processes, comprehensive mental health and dual diagnosis assessment and treatment, development of formulations and individual service plans for clients, risk management and delivery of individual, family and systemic treatment interventions
  • Ensure delivery of high-quality care based on existing evidence and guidelines
  • Provide and monitor support to clinicians, including supervision, access to secondary consultation and professional development activities
  • Provide direct clinical care within a biopsychosocial model to clients and their families for a limited clinical caseload

About you:

Formal Qualifications

  • This is a multidisciplinary role open to Grade 6 Registered Psychiatric Nurses, Grade 5 Social Workers, Clinical Psychologists or Occupational Therapists (must hold relevant degree, registration and/or membership as per attached Position Description)

Essential

  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in clinical practice within the mental health field, including young people experiencing mental health disorders
  • A proven ability to manage and lead a multidisciplinary team: manage staff resources and ensure high standards of practice through staff supervision, clinical review, training and professional development activities
  • Substantial experience in the application of clinical practice in the mental health field and proven expertise with young people
