Inner West Area Mental Health Service – Royal Melbourne Hospital (IWAMHS-RMH) is committed to working with consumers during their recovery by offering holistic and evidence-based (EB) treatment, which is inclusive of family/carers and provided by clinicians with well-developed skills.

You will work closely with clinicians, other practice leaders, and the service leadership team to support our vision “Make a Difference, Every Time, Every Opportunity…”
The role
- To provide discipline specific nursing leadership for the IWAMHS
- Advise the Area Manager/Director of Clinical Services on clinical nursing and workforce planning issues
- Ensure the effective delivery of quality clinical services
- Work with Clinical Nurse Educators to oversee nurse education programs
- Contribute to and undertake identified workforce development activities relating to Undergraduate, Graduate and Post Graduate programs
- Advise on the education and clinical training needs for nursing staff of IWAMHS-RMH
- Take on a range of responsibilities, portfolios and projects appropriate to a senior level position and contribute to overall service planning and development
- Work collaboratively with program managers and nurses across the IWAMHS to plan and develop nursing services
- Highly developed knowledge and understanding of nursing research, service and practice development methodology
Skills and Experience
- Provide extensive senior mental health nursing experience (at least five years) in a range of settings.
- Support and build a positive culture in the nursing workforce and to develop the senior nurse workforce as a leadership group.
- Undertake quality development initiatives and education programs.
- Develop relationships and communicate effectively with the nursing workforce and other stakeholders.
- Possess highly developed skills in writing and an ability to promptly prepare documentation and reports.
- Represent mental health nursing education, training and professional development issues on Area-wide and NWMH committees
