About the Opportunity

The Living Learning Psychologist will provide holistic and therapeutic support to young people and their families who are participating in the Living Learning Program.

This role focuses on addressing complex needs arising from adversity, trauma, and other challenges, promoting resilience, and enhancing overall wellbeing.

The Psychologist is required to complete assessments and provide confidential counselling assistance to Living Learning students by building a comprehensive clinical assessment of the influencing factors for non-engagement with education and poor mental health.

The practitioner will also work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to deliver tailored clinical support to families. They will be grounded in program logic of supporting the young person to increase school attendance and stabilise their mental health as a key objective of their position and purpose within the team.

About you

We are looking for someone who can:

  • Has experience engaging with young people facing barriers to education with mental health challenges.
  • Is excited about working in a multi-disciplinary team to find innovative new ways of working.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing therapeutic support to young people and families, particularly those who have experienced trauma and adversity.
  • Is able to administer psychological assessments and provide comprehensive reports.
  • Has experience in administering developmental assessments including the ADOS, MIGDAS, CONNORS and WISC V.
  • Happy to be flexible in the delivery of therapeutic work and outcomes.

Essential:

  • Tertiary qualification in Psychology,
  • Complete registration with AHPRA.
  • Strong clinical assessment and therapeutic intervention skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and engage effectively with young people, families, and professionals.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team and coordinate support services.
  • Proven ability to create a strong therapeutic alliance and create balance within power relationships.

  • National Police check
  • Working with Children check or ability to obtain
  • Valid Victorian Drivers license
  • Right to Work in Australia
