About the role

MCM is currently assisting the Department of Health & Human Services with providing support to 4 of the hotels in the Homelessness Hotel Emergency Response, Best Western Hotel (CBD), Somerset (CBD), West City Motel (Ardeer) and Monte Villa Hotel (Hoppers Crossing). This role will provide responsive and flexible support to the people placed in the emergency hotel accommodation.

The role will work with Health and Security personnel to assist in ensuring appropriate preventative measures are in place to protect the health and wellbeing of people residing in these hotels.

The role will be focused on short term practical responses such as food security, or referral to other services such as health, mental health, family violence support and AOD.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Assisting to engage and undertake assessments for people that are currently residing temporarily in hotel or emergency accommodation.
  • Delivering essential requirements such as food and medication to people.
  • Engaging general and mental health supports to assist people residing temporarily in hotels.

Skills & experience include but are not limited to:

  • Ability to develop respectful, positive relationships with clients while maintaining clear boundaries.
  • Good customer service skills including the ability to build rapport with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated capacity to work flexibly and have the ability to manage competing demands.
  • Have the judgement of people and situations to minimise the risk of triggering concerning behaviours and be able to respond safely to situations where there are heightened emotions.
  • Availability to work weekends shifts.
