About the Opportunity

Frontyard is a specialist youth service (16 – 24 years) providing a range of multidisciplinary, intensive support in one building that disrupts disadvantage. Frontyard aims to support young people holistically to meet their physical, emotional, and social needs with the end goal a pathway out of homelessness.

This role sits within the Circuit Breaker Accommodation Program. The program is a mix of short and longer-term therapeutic housing option for young people that universal homelessness services have not been able to assist in breaking the cycle of homelessness they are experiencing. The program consists of a multidisciplinary team and works from a healing oriented, strengths-based framework and focuses on working with young people to reach their goals and exit the homelessness service system.

About you

We are seeking people who are strong advocates for social justice that want to ensure positive outcomes for young people through going above and beyond to achieve sustainable outcomes. If you are passionate about creating sustainable and supportive opportunities for young people and want to leave your mark on changing the status quo, then this is the role for you.

Our ideal candidate will be able to successfully demonstrate the following key skills and attributes:

  • A clear understanding of working within a case management model including intake, assessment and ongoing support processes.
  • Understanding or experience working with young people experiencing homelessness, including knowledge of trauma informed or healing oriented approaches.
  • Strong passion for working with young people and ability to engage young people actively and assertively with complex needs.
  • Demonstrated experience working within a case management framework and accommodation / refuge setting
  • Strong ability to actively and assertively engage young people with complex needs, particularly in an accommodation environment.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills encompassing interpersonal, verbal and written, and negotiation skills.

Essential:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Youth Work, or related community services field (Certificate IV with demonstrated experience minimum).
  • An extensive understanding of the homelessness service system with knowledge of patterns, trends, systemic issues and principles in working with at risk young people.
  • Understanding or experience working with young people at risk or experiencing homelessness, including knowledge of healing-oriented approaches.

Screening Criteria:

  • National Police check
  • Working with Children check and NDIS Worker Screening check or ability to obtain
  • Valid Victorian Drivers license
  • Right to Work in Australia
