About the role

mecwacare is currently seeking a General Practitioner who will be responsible for providing high quality primary health care services to the community and a residential aged care portfolio at our Ballan clinic and aged care facility.

This role reports to the Chief Executive and will have knowledge of a broad range of illnesses and ailments and examine, diagnose and treat patients of all ages. The General Practitioner will provide advice and treatment in line with preventative health initiatives whilst monitoring patients’ conditions and wellbeing.

The role will be responsible for ensuring that all patient history is maintained, recorded and relevant medical records are communicated to specialists through referral as needed. The ability to support and provide supervision of PEP doctors would be highly regarded. This is a contract position with period to be negotiated.

What you bring:

• Must be a registered Medical Practitioner (full and unrestricted registration) with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA) and hold a provider number.
• A commitment to achieving quality outcomes for patients, employees and volunteers.
• Demonstrated ability to provide high quality primary health care to all ages across the community and residential aged care portfolios.
• Previous experience working as a general practitioner.
• Proficient knowledge of Medicare Benefits Schedule, other relevant funding, standards and legislative requirements.
• Exceptional organisational, planning and time management skills.
• Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
• Availability to work Saturdays.
• Ability to provide on call assistance on a rotating basis across a team of General Practitioners.
• Able to provide qualified supervision to medical practitioners completing an AGPT program.

Desirable:

• Post graduate qualification related to aged and/or community services
