Join a passionate team at Muscular Dystrophy NSW (MDNSW) as our Marketing and Engagement Coordinator. Reporting to the Marketing and Engagement Team Lead, this is a unique opportunity to amplify our digital presence, create engaging content and foster meaningful connections with our community.

Muscular Dystrophy NSW is NSW’s leading not-for-profit organisation supporting people living with a neuromuscular condition and their families at every life stage.

For over 65 years, we’ve connected people across NSW to the support programs they want and the community they need. We offer advocacy, community events including camps and retreats, peer support and connection, NDIS support coordination, links to the latest information, sponsorship for researchers, support services and more.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop engaging content for MDNSW’s social media accounts including Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn.
  • Monitor, moderate and analyse social media activity to improve engagement, grow our profile and contribute to the overall social media strategy.
  • Maintain and update the website in line with events, projects, policies and standards.
  • Lead the creation and distribution of the monthly email newsletter.
  • Develop high-quality content (articles, blogs, videos, infographics) in line with the content calendar.
  • Design marketing materials such as flyers, brochures, posters and digital assets.
  • Assist with the creation of press releases and media kits.
  • Support the management and execution of campaigns from conception to rollout, including analysis and post-campaign reporting.
  • Plan, coordinate and execute community engagement activities, including events like the annual Community Day.
  • Support general volunteer (non-carer) recruitment, onboarding and retention, ensuring alignment with MDNSW’s needs.
  • Assist in generating insights from community data to inform strategic decisions and improve engagement tactics.
  • Develop and nurture relationships with external stakeholders, including partners, media and community organisations.
  • Manage the media consent register and provide general administrative support for the Marketing and Engagement team.

About you

  • A degree or relevant qualification in Marketing, Communications or a related field.
  • 1-2 years of experience in marketing and communications, with a strong creative eye for copywriting, branding and design.
  • Experience in the non-profit sector is desirable.
  • Event planning and coordination experience is a plus.
  • Proficient in Canva (or similar design tools).
  • Adaptable and always open to trying new strategies to achieve results.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with both internal teams and external partners.
  • Organised, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • A current driver’s licence.
