Macular Disease Foundation’s purpose is to reduce the impact of macular disease through (i) supporting and caring for people living with macular disease; (ii) advocating on behalf of the community to government; (iii) funding research; and (iv) raising community awareness and promoting early detection of the condition.

Primary purpose of the role

The Planned Giving Manager is responsible for executing plans to grow and steward the MDFA’s Gifts in Wills (GIW) program, Trusts and Foundations, and build strong relationships with major and mid-tier donors. Working closely with the MDFA Executive team to acquire and nurture key relations, this role is integral to the long-term sustainability of the organisation by securing future bequests and significant current gifts.

The Planned Giving Manager is responsible for managing the administration of realised Estates, from notification to final distribution and stewarding Gift in Will prospects through the bequest pipeline. This role will generate new leads, as well as engage and develop strong relationships with prospective and confirmed planned givers.

This position is part-time (3-4 days a week).

About You

Essential qualifications and skills:

  • Knowledge of best practice donor care and maintaining a donor-centric methodology to enhance donor experience and satisfaction
  • 5+ years in fundraising, with experience in planned giving, major giving, or similar.
  • Understanding and experience in the Not-For-Profit sector
  • Experience with Salesforce or an equivalent CRM system
  • Excellent attention to detail, organisational and time management skills, including working under pressure and meeting competing deadlines
  • Outstanding level of written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong presentation skills, comfortable with presenting at events, education sessions, and webinars

  • Advanced interpersonal skills including the ability to relate to highly emotional situations and families with compassion and understanding
  • Experience in dealing with situations that require a high standard of integrity, ethics, judgment, and confidentiality, including the ability to discuss life planning
  • A positive ‘can-do’ attitude and demonstrated ability to build relationships and work with others within the organisation
  • Awareness of the key principles of the Privacy Act
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and autonomously to achieve enhanced outcomes, including a demonstrated ability to adapt to changing circumstances, work processes, and working hours.
