MCWA was originally created to provide services to the ageing Macedonian community, however, since 2008, MCWA has expanded and is offering services to other diverse communities.

MCWA continuous to grow and address the many needs of culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities through in home and social support.

We are a Commonwealth Home Support Program, Home And Community Care for Younger People and Home Care Packages provider and we operate at a state level with a head office located in Maribyrnong.

About the role

In this role you will assist the people in their daily activities and a promotion of a healthy and balanced lifestyle.

Key tasks, responsibilities and physical requirements:

Home Help, Personal care, Shopping, Respite , Transport etc.

While performing the duties of this position you will be regularly required to talk and listen.

You will be frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms as well as stoop and kneel. Occasionally you may be required to lift and/or move up to 5kg.

Skills and experience/selection criteria

• Speaking and understanding Macedonian, or Croatian, or Serbian, or Bosnian or any other language is required
• First aid certificate (Level 2)
• Certificate III in Individual Support or equivalent
• A valid police check certificate
• Experience in working with the frail aged and people with a disability is desirable
• Good communication skills
• Well developed problem solving and decision-making skills
• Interpersonal and team work skills
• Ability to respond sensitively to the needs of client group and their families
• Understand and respect the needs for confidentiality in dealing with participants and their families
• A current Drivers License
• A comprehensive vehicle insurance is required for the transportation shifts
• Understanding of Duty of Care
