As the Social Media Advisor you will:

  • Create and share compelling content for our social media channels
  • Grow and manage vibrant, engaged online communities
  • Provide expertise and support to the wider organisation with social media activities and opportunities

In this role, you’ll be a key voice in shaping how we connect with audiences locally and globally—celebrating MCRI’s impact and bringing our brand to life online.

About your new team

At MCRI, our Brand & Marketing team plays a vital role in the Engagement & Development department, bringing our purpose to life and embedding the pillars of our brand in everything we do. We’re here to energise the organisation around a unified brand strategy and marketing approach – ensuring every team member can live and breathe our values and vision.

Our mission is two-fold: to deliver outstanding marketing outcomes that support our immediate goals, and to nurture long-term brand health that drives the Institute’s future growth and influence in child health research and care.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Identify opportunities to adapt and translate content from other areas of the Institute for social media.
  • Design and create multimedia content (photos, videos and reels) for social media.
  • Design visuals and graphics in line with brand guidelines.
  • Assist with the management of MCRI’s digital asset management system.
  • Manage MCRI’s Shutterstock downloads and requests
  • Managing all incoming queries via the Social Media inboxes and triage/manage the workload.
  • Provide regular social media education sessions to guide researchers and staff on best-practices and use of social platforms.
  • Maintain the social media policy and guidelines and the social media content on the Marketing & Communications Hub.

What we need from you:

  • Significant experience in a similar social media role or marketing role with a strong social media component.
  • Demonstrable experience running social media accounts on behalf of a brand, preferably within healthcare, research or a mission-driven organisation.
  • Proven content production skills including copywriting, photography and short-form videography, editing.
  • Demonstratable brand management experience including brand governance, with a strong understanding of brand and strategic marketing principles.
  • Experience providing advice and guidance to colleagues at all levels of the organisation.
  • Familiarity and aptitude with relevant social media and digital tools including Meta Business Suite, Sprout Social, Canva, Google Analytics, ResourceSpace, Asana.
  • Ability to interpret data and provide recommendations / ensure continuous improvement.
