The opportunity

Are you a compassionate and experienced nurse with a passion for paediatric oncology? Are you ready to play a pivotal role in ground-breaking clinical trials that could shape the future of cancer treatments for children? We invite you to be part of our dynamic team at the Children's Cancer Centre (CCC) as a Senior Research Nurse.

At CCC, we are driven by a common goal - to make a difference in the lives of young cancer patients. Our team of dedicated professionals is committed to pushing the boundaries of medical research and delivering top-notch patient care. As a Senior Research Nurse, you will work alongside the Clinical Trials Manager (CTM) and Clinical Trial Consultants (CTC), contributing to complex early phase clinical trials and helping pave the way for future advancements in paediatric oncology.

Our ideal candidate has a strong background in paediatric oncology, complemented by a desire to further excel in clinical trials. We offer comprehensive training in clinical trial concepts, conduct, and good clinical practice to enhance your capabilities.

This position is available as a part-time 12-month parental leave cover contract, with a weekly commitment of 22.6 hours. Flexibility in work hours can be accommodated.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Organise and manage pharmacokinetics studies
  • Administer study medication when necessary according to protocol requirements and maintain accurate and complete records
  • Organises and coordinates in-service education for clinical staff within the Children’s Cancer Centre for new clinical trial treatments
  • Consistent broad level of influence outside of the MCRI and the Melbourne Children’s Campus to other health services within metropolitan Melbourne or state-wide.
  • Contributes to the Campus processes supporting clinical research and represents nursing in reviews of organisation processes supporting research on campus

About you

  • Bachelor of Nursing
  • Relevant Postgraduate Diploma desirable
  • Extensive experience (minimum 5 years) in paediatric oncology clinical trials
  • Applicable Nursing Registration – Division 1 with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Appropriate level of expertise gained from a combination of experience and or training
  • Demonstrated ability to develop a research question based on clinical practice
