The opportunity

We’re seeking a passionate and organised Research Assistant to join the Transgender Health Research Group, supporting the Australian Research Consortium for Trans Youth and Children (ARCTYC). Contribute to impactful research including innovative mixed methods studies and clinical trials. Bring your organisational and research skills to a dynamic, ambitious program, and collaborate with a dedicated team committed to improving outcomes for trans young people and their families.

About your new team

The Transgender Health Research Group is a collaborative team focused on improving the health, wellbeing, and belonging of trans young people through impactful, affirming research. As part of the Australian Research Consortium for Trans Youth and Children (ARCTYC), you’ll work within a national network of researchers, clinicians, and community partners dedicated to advancing gender-affirming care and driving meaningful change.

What you’ll do

  • Support participant recruitment and data collection for ARCTYC studies at the Melbourne Children’s Campus
  • Assist with study materials, communications, and ethics and governance requirements
  • Contribute to clinical trial coordination, including program delivery and risk management
  • Support data analysis and the preparation of research outputs, including publications and presentations (as required)
  • Build strong relationships with participants, collaborators, and youth advisors while maintaining high ethical research standards

What you’ll bring

  • Demonstrated experience and/or strong interest in research with trans young people
  • Relevant tertiary qualification (or working towards) in a related field
  • Strong organisational, time management, and attention to detail skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including with young people and families
  • Highly motivated, professional, and able to work both independently and collaboratively
