The Opportunity at MCRI:

The MOXY partnership is a new major project within MCRI’s Oxygen Access program which aims to expand life-saving oxygen in countries where high-burden inadequately and untreated hypoxemia contributes to long-term morbidity and mortality, especially among children and newborns. MCRI is academic partner for the MOXY program, working with the Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) as implementer.

The program involves oxygen systems work in 9 countries (Ethiopia, Uganda, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, Liberia, India, Cambodia, Laos PDR), led by CHAI country teams in partnership with Ministries of Health (MOH).

The Project Officer will be a core member of the Oxygen Access program team at MCRI, working with the Team Leader, Research Fellow, Program Manager, Consultants, and international partners. The Project Officer will support communication and support to teams and academic partners, including supporting the development of research protocols and data collection tools, training and implementation research activities, and analysis and report writing. This role will involve travel to participating countries.

This role has significant opportunity for professional growth and additional responsibility, including opportunity for career advancement.

Your Responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborate with partner national teams and staff to problem solve challenges
  • Drive project management smaller projects and contribute to program activities by being an active and dependable member of the team
  • Work with the Team Leader and in-country teams to support the implementation and monitoring of country workplans, especially relating to program evaluation
  • Support preparation of communications materials, meeting minutes, reports, and social media

About You:

  • Qualification in a relevant field or relevant experience, such as nursing/public health
  • Passion to work in global health and experience working in international development, global health or resource limited settings
  • Excellent relationship building and management skills
  • High level administrative and organisational skills, including time management, effective prioritisation of competing demands and ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability and interest to travel to participating countries for 2-4 weeks at a time, 2-4 times per year
