The opportunity:

Join the team at Murdoch Children’s Research Institute as a passionate Media & Communications Advisor! You will play a critical role in shaping our public image and promoting our brand purpose.

As a Media & Communications Advisor, you will work closely with the Senior Communications Manager and Media Manager to execute a wide range of media communications activities and support internal and external stakeholders. With your background in the Health Industry, Corporate, and Consumer sectors, you will bring a unique skillset to the table and have the opportunity to offer creative input into key initiatives, communications campaigns, strategy and assets. Your responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the Institute’s marketing and communications plans, research/academic agenda and researchers
  • Implementing, coordinating and project managing communications activities, support communication plan priorities and support the execution of key messages relating to organisational initiatives and the strategic plan
  • Helping prepare key messages, collateral and/or digital content to promote new health initiatives, research reports, research breakthroughs and awards

About you:

  • Relevant Tertiary Qualifications in health communications or journalism
  • 5 + years’ experience in communications or journalism and have a great understanding of working in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong writing skills and the ability to empathetically tell patient case study stories for online features and video content
  • A strong understanding of the media industry and sound experience and confidence in briefing journalists on complex issues
