The Opportunity at MCRI

The Orthopaedics research group (MCRI) wishes to appoint a Clinical Research Coordinator to lead and manage the Departments major research projects in Upper Limb, Sports Science, Limb Reconstruction, Tumour Surgery and Trauma. You will be joining a team of Research Assistants who work primarily in Hip Dysplasia, Spinal Deformity and Gait Lab.

For the first 6 months you will take the lead in the VicHip Project in which a new registry is being built based on our current platform. This will be linked to GenV and the International Hip Dysplasia Research Group encompassing patients from the whole of Victoria. After this period you will take lead in developing strong research themes across the department, developing research protocols, assisting in grant applications and taking a lead in the maintenance of quality data collection and the tools through which this is done.

To be successful in this role you will be confident in leading and coordinating a comprehensive clinical registry and team. You will possess a proactive nature and be able to develop and maintain strong working relationships with various stakeholders.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Centrally involved in the establishment of the VicHip project working closely with the CIA
  • Ensuring the VicHip ethics, governance, recruitment, training, registry development are of the highest quality
  • Liaise with IHDR and GenV, supervise the Research Coordinators at other sites and ensure data collection and quality is maintained
  • Conduct ethical research at the highest level of integrity and in line with the Australian Code for Responsible Conduct of Research and MCRI policies

About you:

  • Degree/Honours/Masters qualification in Science or related discipline.
  • Experience in leading and coordinating a comprehensive clinical registry and team.
  • The ability to write documents and reports.
  • High attention to detail with a proactive nature.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
