The role will include the analysis and documentation of the needs of clinical subject matter experts, as well as the development, validation and troubleshooting of SQL queries and Epic EMR Reports.

The Clinical Data Analysts will work in collaboration with the Senior Clinical Data Analyst, EMR analysts, researchers, and other technical experts in the Centre for Health Analytics. You will understand or learn how clinical workflows and data capture processes affect data captured by the Parkville EMR and work with others in the appropriate use, interpretation and analysis of these data. To be successful in this role you will have a demonstrated knowledge of health information systems and the capacity to learn and apply report development processes. You will possess strong interpersonal and communication skills and be a confident communicator to a wide range of stakeholders.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Working with the Centre for Health Analytics Team to prioritise and complete clinical data extract and analysis requests that achieve the goals of the Centre.
  • Working with subject matter experts to analyse clinical data problems and then design and document requirements for clinical data solutions.
  • Designing and building approved clinical data extracts using both graphical and code-based query tools.
  • Collaborate with EMR Analysts to understand the impact of clinical workflows on the secondary use of clinical data captured by the Parkville EMR.

About You:

  • A relevant tertiary degree in health science, health informatics, digital health, information technology, data science or equivalent.
  • Experience in the design, implementation and validation of reports (or extracts) from a health information system such as an Electronic Medical Record (EMR), Patient Admission System (PAS) or General Practice software system.
