Maxima is a not-for-profit, community minded organisation with a reputation for being an employer-of-choice. Together with the Latrobe Valley Authority (LVA) and Solar Victoria, and funded by Jobs Victoria, Maxima are undertaking an exciting new Priority Workforce Project (PWP) within the renewable energy sector, with the aim to create 130 jobs for eligible individuals within diverse priority cohorts.
With the opportunity to be based in Morwell or Sale, we are seeking a highly driven and customer focused individual to join the newly developed workforce project as an Employment Support Specialist. As the Employment Support Specialist, you will be responsible for sourcing potential program participants, supporting them with effective case management, provision of wrap around supports and referrals, individual mentoring and training to help address skill gaps and build their capability to secure a position. Post placement you will provide support to both the employer and newly placed participant to maximise sustainability.
What are your responsibilities?
- Connecting with local community organisations to build awareness of the opportunities available through the PWP and to support potential candidates to access the program
- Work with individuals to identify skills and gaps, referral to appropriate support services in line with identified barriers
- Facilitate tailored candidate mentoring throughout employment period (wrap-around supports, individual mentoring, and post-placement support aligned to candidate)
- Facilitate post-placement support with employers in line with the employers needs to maximise sustainability.
- Coordinate and source industry specific training, aligned to employer training needs to support candidate skills match ongoing employment needs
- Work with participating employers to facilitate reasonable adjustments to maximise placement and business success
- Facilitation and delivery of pre-employment work readiness programs upon entry to the workplace (as developed and agreed with each employer)
- Identify barriers for candidates and make appropriate referrals to other relevant services (liaising with any other known external parties)
- Administrative compliance and requirements
- Maintain compliance with contractual requirements in line with the project requirements
Skills & Experience
- Experience in delivering high levels of customer service in a complex stakeholder environment
- Experience in community services, employment services or similar area
- Experience working across a range of diverse cohorts.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong stakeholder and client relationship management skills
- A pro-active mindset, focusing on seeking solutions to problems
- Solid administrative and computer skills
- Evidence of approved ATAGI COVID Vaccinations, or a valid exemption. as required from the relevant government health authority
- A current National Police Clearance, Working with Children Check and NDIS Worker clearance
- A current unrestricted driver licence
