ABOUT THE ROLE

The Lead Field Organiser - South will work to organise volunteers in the Griffith electorate, with a particular focus in the Southern ends of the electorate around suburbs of Greenslopes, Coorparoo, Camp Hill, Holland Park and Mt Gravatt.

This role is funded by the Queensland Greens and will report to the State Director, while working closely alongside the Griffith Electorate Office and re-election campaign for the Federal MP. The position is offered under the Australian Greens Multi Enterprise Staff Collective Agreement 2021, and includes:

A starting salary of $65,817.11 per annum pro-rata ($33.31 per hour) working 3-4 days per week;

  • Superannuation of 11% in addition to salary;

  • Contracted role until May 2025, or until the federal election, whichever is soonest.

  • A probationary period of three months will apply and may be subject to extension by a maximum of three months. All employees are expected to sign a confidentiality and code of conduct agreement before the commencement of their employment.

THE CAMPAIGN ORGANISER WILL:

  • Proactively identify issues the local community are engaged in and passionate about
  • Recruit and organise a broad volunteer base, to upskill and coordinate voter engagement events
  • Lead field campaign activities in collaboration with local Greens campaign teams, with a primary focus on doorknocking and letterboxing
  • Maintain relationships with interest groups in the electorate, following up issues where appropriate
  • All other duties as directed

KEY COMPETENCIES REQUIRED

  • Demonstrated political judgement, with a particular emphasis on Queensland politics.
  • Highly developed skills recruiting and managing volunteers, including experience running voter contact actions during election campaigns.
  • Outstanding organisational skills, including demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and work to tight deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Proven word processing skills, computing skills (e.g. email and Outlook, spreadsheets, Google documents, social media platforms, NationBuilder or other databases etc.) and digital housekeeping skills (e.g. computer file structures, data archiving and deletion)
  • Excellent people skills and an ability to motivate and organise volunteers
  • Competency in navigating online databases and systems (e.g. google documents, Nationbuilder, and spreadsheets)
  • Experience in working in complex organisational structures
  • Experience with and skills in conflict resolution
  • Ability to work independently including highly developed problem solving skills
  • A commitment to Green politics and processes including consensus decision making
  • Commitment to the Greens charter and policies including an understanding of internal structures and processes
  • Previous experience in a similar role in any political or social setting, including community-based and voluntary or unpaid roles

Role is anticipated to begin in mid April with applications assessed on a rolling basis.
