About the Company

Mary Ward International (MWI) is the aid and development organisation of the Loreto Sisters of Australia and South East Asia, working in Australia and across nine countries. As part of a global Loreto Education, Social Justice and UN network, MWI supports projects that alleviate poverty and create sustainable change. Together with our partners, networks and local communities, we specifically focus on the three key areas as the foundations of a more just and equitable society, education, economic empowerment and advocacy. About the role

Reporting to the Board Chair and the MWI Board, this hands-on role is responsible for developing and maintaining the effectiveness, strategic direction and sustainability of MWI. Broadening the financial and donor base will be a major focus in the short to medium term.

The major areas of responsibility are:

  • Effective leadership and governance of the team, projects and initiatives
  • Development and effective implementation of the Strategic Plan
  • Expanding sustainable funding support for MWI programs and projects stakeholders
  • Acting as a public representative and ambassador
  • Advocating to address the justice and human rights issues confronting project partners and social ministries

Skills & Experience Required

You have held hands-on leadership positions in aid and development agencies (that are ideally ACFID accredited) or like-minded institutions and a deep understanding of best practices in relation to program creation and delivery in a national and international environment. Crucially, you have experience in fundraising as a manager, program leader or fundraising director. You will have previous experience working with a board and multiple external stakeholders, preferably in a faith-based organisation. Specifically, you can demonstrate experience in:

  • Strategic planning, budget development and financial management
  • Governance and experience working with a board
  • Fundraising and the sustainability of organisations
  • Leading and managing staff
