Margaret Tucker Hostel provides safe, short-term accommodation for young Aboriginal women aged 15–18 who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness. Established in 1988 and named after Aunty Margaret Tucker MBE, the hostel honours a legacy of advocacy, healing, and cultural strength.

About the Role

This is a key leadership role for a compassionate and experienced professional who values culture, community, and connection. The Team Leader supports a small team, ensures high-quality service delivery, and promotes a safe and culturally grounded environment. You’ll also step in as Acting Manager when required.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise a team of four staff
• Manage referrals, intake, and care planning
• Ensure a culturally safe and supportive environment for residents and staff
• Liaise with Aboriginal organisations and community leaders
• Foster a positive, collaborative team culture
• Respond to incidents and manage compliance and risk
• Contribute to program development and cultural engagement activities

About You

• Qualifications in Social Work, Youth Work, or related field
• Demonstrated leadership experience in residential or crisis accommodation
• Strong understanding of and respect for Aboriginal culture and community
• Experience working with Aboriginal young people and families
• Excellent communication and crisis intervention skills
• Current Working with Children Check, Police Check, and Driver’s Licence
